Live/Work Housing

Artspace will build 100 units of affordable housing for individuals and families at the Tannery Arts Center. In the Tannery Artist Lofts we are committed to attracting creative individuals and families from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds. We encourage all people to apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion, employment or occupation, national origin, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, marital status, familial status, sexual orientation, and status with regard to public assistance, or physical disability. We are especially interested in individuals who are committed to building community and will give some of their time and energy toward this goal.

When we are invited to work in a community we form an artist advisory committee made up of artists from that community. This committee guides the design process and our outreach to the creative community. Artspace’s mission is to create, foster and preserve affordable space for artists and arts organizations. Our residential units have large flexible floor plans, high ceilings, large windows and durable surfaces to accommodate a variety of creative disciplines. Artspace buildings across the country have a special feeling of community fostered by creative activity and community involvement.

The affordable housing at the Tannery Arts Center, will consist of 100 units of new construction over parking. The residential project will serve individuals and families earning less than 30%, 40% and 50% of area median income (AMI). For a table of income limits for 2007, click her. (Please be aware these numbers change annually)

Rents will be based on income level, size of family and appartment size, i.e. studio, one, two and three bedroom. For a chart of rental rates, click here.
