BRIAN SARINOVA
Sentinels
Brian Sarinova is a sculptor, painter, photographer, storyteller, and filmmaker. His technical achievements are revealed in the many public art pieces he has created throughout the US. Highlights of his projects include a 75’ mosaic mural of Billy the Kid at the Visitor Center in Ruidoso Downs NM; a sculptural Water Fountain Feature at the Alamogordo Zoo NM; a bronze Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Wichita, KS and many private and commercial commissions including the Hyatt in Santa Cruz, and the historical landmark Court of Mysteries in Santa Cruz. Currently, Brian is sculpting large ceramic vessels, life-sized humans and animals. He is fascinated by the shifting mysterious relationships between these various archetypal forms and their viewers. His sculptures are the convergence of clay, abstract gestural oil painting, and industrial elements of concrete.
Sentinels were created to move two-dimensional surfaces onto three-dimensional forms, connecting the traditional and contemporary. The cubist abstract line work and palette reference location (nature) and vibrancy (electric energy). The vessels are traditionally constructed using native American coil techniques. The work is about movement - past and future; as the artist states: “a modern and ancient” blend.
Sentinels are on display in the Lezin sculpture garden at the Tannery Arts Center campus and are available for purchase.
